NON-LINEAR EDITING
This method of editing employs the use of specialized computers and software to edit a pre-recorded video footage. The video footage is recorded onto the computer and once the editing is complete, the edited version is recorded back onto a tape or optical disk. Non-linear editing has a lot of advantages over the linear editing method. Its main advantage over the linear method is that it allows you to make changes to any part of the video production at any time and hence the name “non-linear” because you do not have to follow a linear order when editing. Non-linear editing also has some basic disadvantages. For one, it is more difficult for a film production company to adapt to as it can be quite complicated since specialized software are involved. Also, it is quite tricky to get the wide array of hardware and software compatible with each other as there are a lot of options available and technology improves daily.
